Ingredients

½ lb ground sausage

½ lb ground beef

¾ c onion, diced

1 tbsp garlic, minced

1 tbsp oregano

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

24 oz marinara

12 oz petite diced tomatoes

15 oz whole milk ricotta

2 tbsp grated parmesan

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped

16 oz ziti

8 oz mozzarella pearls

1 c mozzarella, shredded

Directions

Step 1

Brown sausage and ground beef in a large pot over medium heat.

½ lb ground sausage

½ lb ground beef

Step 2

Once browned, add in onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper and sauté until translucent.

¾ c onion, diced

1 tbsp garlic, minced

1 tbsp oregano

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

Step 3

Add in marinara, tomatoes, and a slash of water. Cover and set heat to low. Stir occasionally.

24 oz marinara

12 oz petite diced tomatoes

Step 4

While the sauce is cooking, boil salted water in a large pot and cook ziti a few minutes less than al dente. Drain the ziti and rinse with cold water so the pasta doesn't continue cooking.

16 oz ziti

Step 5

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 6

Next, add ricotta, parmesan, parsley, and basil to a large sized bowl and mix until combined. Set aside.

15 oz whole milk ricotta

2 tbsp grated parmesan

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped

Step 7

Mix in a dollop of ricotta mixture to the sauce and then mix in a couple scoops of the sauce to the ricotta mixture.

8 oz mozzarella pearls

Step 8

Add the cooked ziti and mozzarella pearls to the large bowl with ricotta. Gently fold until ziti is evenly coated with ricotta.

Step 9

Layer in a baking dish as follows: sauce, half of ziti, sauce, shredded mozzarella, other half of ziti, sauce, and mozzarella.

1 c mozzarella, shredded

Step 10

Cover dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the slightly browned. Enjoy!
